Description:
Summary:
The Corporate Partnerships unit at the American Red Cross seeks to form mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships with corporations that can offer reach and revenue to support the Red Cross brand and its organizational priorities. As part of the team, the Manager helps to develop, plans and implements a corporate giving program to meet annual corporate fundraising goals. This position leads a team of officers and associates in identifying corporate partnership opportunities (both cash and product contributions) and serves as a member of the unit’s management team.
Responsibilities:
Supervises a team of professional and administrative staff and oversees fundraising strategies and tactics to ensure development goals and objectives are met. Provides guidance to senior management and volunteer leadership regarding the setting of strategies and objectives for this corporate fundraising program. Manages a prospect portfolio by cultivating relationships, soliciting funds and providing stewardship. Works with the director to provide leadership and coordination for the unit when called upon to raise funds supporting episodic disaster relief. Develops, recommends and implements policies and procedures to increase the effectiveness of the fundraising program. Encourages cross-functional collaboration, promotes a healthy and trusting work environment within Corporate Partnerships and the department, and fosters a commitment to the goals of the entire team. Contacts and develops relationships with key field units to engage participation and to identify field unit’s needs.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Business, Organizational Development or a relevant field. Seven to ten years experience with demonstrated success in major gifts and/or corporate fundraising and contract negotiation. A minimum three years in a supervisory capacity. Successful strategy and solicitation of $1 million+ gifts using a Moves Management system. Business management skills (including budgeting, human resources, project/program development). Experience in public relations and strategic development of fundraising programs. Experience with branch management and coordinating major national projects is preferred. Organizational, analytical and project management skills, including ability to anticipate risks and a creative problem solving. Evidence of strong leadership skills, including setting visions, defining strategy and communicating them to others. Motivation, strong initiative and ability to foster collaborative teamwork. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation, liaison and negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and persuasively with diverse people. Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in difficult or sensitive situations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using a donor data management system (like Raiser’s Edge). Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work outside standard established work hours, and a moderate amount (15-25%) of business travel are required.
